2025: Wiki Finance Expo Cyprus

Our Director, Xenia Neophytou, led the panel “Sandbox Two Point Zero: Finding a Faster Balance Between Innovation and Regulation” with industry experts Andreas Kourouklaris, Simon Zenios, Marios Lazarou, and Barry Perkins. The discussion explored how regulators and innovators can move at the same pace without losing trust, focusing on speed, safety, and next steps for crypto, AI, and Cyprus in Europe.

Key takeaways from the panel:
Sandboxes as gateways – They must evolve from one off pilots into structured fast track paths to licensing.
Cyprus’s bold move – By launching a full sandbox instead of an innovation hub, Cyprus proved that speed and structure can coexist, positioning itself as a leading jurisdiction in Europe.
AML KYC as a bottleneck – Harmonized onboarding remains the biggest global obstacle; standardization could save firms months of delays.
Risk based supervision – Moving from static checklists to continuous, proportional monitoring that supports innovation while maintaining safeguards.
Principle based and tech neutral regulation – Clarity and predictability create the foundation for both crypto and AI to grow responsibly.

The conclusion: Sandbox Two Point Zero is not lighter regulation. It is faster, smarter, and more collaborative regulation.
For innovators it means faster scaling.
For regulators it means evidence based supervision.
For Cyprus it is an opportunity to lead in Europe through agility, not size.
